How can texting and driving impact your life?

We all do quite a bit of driving in our daily lives and, although many people probably would not like to admit it, many drivers are using their cellphones while they drive. It is not hard to see that this is a dangerous activity. So, how can texting and driving impact one's life?

Well, as it turns out, texting and driving may be getting more dangerous than many people realize. In 2015 alone, an estimated 400,000 people were injured in car accidents that were caused by distracted driving. Approximately 3,500 people were killed in these types of accidents.

Distracted driving, and texting and driving, in particular, can impact an Illinois resident's life dramatically. Just imagine, how would one handle a major injury suffered in a car accident? What if one did not have enough money to pay medical bills? What if their injury is so severe that they are not able to return to work right away to earn more money?

Anyone who is injured in a car accident that was caused by a distracted driver may be able to pursue financial compensation through a personal injury lawsuit. These injured victims need to determine whether the other driver was at fault and, if so, how the accident occurred as a result. These days, the answer may be because of distracted driving, more often than not. When drivers take their eyes off of the road to send or read a text message, those few seconds of inattentiveness can cost Illinois residents their lives.
